ไปดูมาแล้ว Evita the Musical ที่เพิ่งนำกลับมาแสดงใหม่เมื่อปีที่แล้ว ณ Adelphi Theatre ลอนดอน หลังจากที่เปิดแสดงครั้งแรกเมื่อปี 1978 และอยู่ยงคงกระพันถึง 7 ปีเต็ม โดยฝีมือการแต่งเพลงของ Andrew Lloyd Webber เจ้าเดิม (Phantom of the Opera, Cats) และเจ้าของเนื้อร้องอย่าง Tim Rice
Evita เอ่ยชื่อนี้คงไม่มีใครไม่รู้จัก เนื่องจากเมื่อปี 1996 เรื่องราวของอีวา เปรอง ภรรยาของฮวน เปรอน อดีตประธานาธิปดีของอาร์เจนตินา ผู้นี้ได้ถูกนำมาสร้างเป็นภาพยนตร์เพลงอีกครั้ง นำแสดงโดย Madonna, Antonio Banderas และ Jonathan Pryce
Evita เป็นเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับอีวา เปรอง ตั้งแต่สมัยอายุ 15 ปี จากเด็กสาวบ้านนอกคนหนึ่ง ที่ไต่เต้าขึ้นมาโดยใช้ความสามารถและเสน่ห์ต่อเพศตรงข้ามของเธอจนได้มาอยู่ที่จุดสูงสุดของชีวิต ในขณะที่ตัวละครอย่าง เช กูวาร่า ก็ได้ถูกนำเข้ามาสร้างสีสันในแง่ของการเสียดสีอีวา เปรอง อย่างไม่เหลือชิ้นดี
ว่ากันด้วยเรื่องของโปรดักชั่นซึ่งไม่น่าจะต่างอะไรนักกับต้นฉบับเมื่อปี '78 ก็ทำออกมาได้ในระดับโอเค และไม่ได้มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงอะไรมากนักในเรื่องของเทคโนโลยี สำหรับศตวรรษที่ 21 แล้ว Evita ฉบับนี้ไม่ได้มีอะไรหวือหวาอลังการณ์ในแง่ของฉาก ไม่ได้มีอะไรแปลกใหม่ในแง่ของดนตรี...เรียกได้ว่าคลาสสิคในแบบเก่าๆ มีไว้สำหรับผู้ชมที่ยังเป็นหนุ่มสาวเมื่อราว 28 ปีที่แล้วได้หวนระลึกถึงวันคืนเดิมๆ
สำหรับนักแสดง ซึ่งนำโดย Elena Roger ถ้าไม่นับสำเนียงอาร์เจนติเนียนอันน่ารำคาญหูของเธออย่างเห็นได้ชัดแม้ว่าละครจะไม่มีบทพูดก็ตาม (สำหรับบางคนอาจจะเรียกมันว่าเป็นเสน่ห์ก็ได้) ก็เรียกได้ว่าน้ำเสียงของเธอนั้นอยู่ในขั้นใช้ได้ แต่ก็ไม่ได้โดดเด่นไปมากกว่านักแสดงละครเพลงคนอื่นทั่วไป ทรงพลัง แต่ไม่มีอะไรโดดเด่น แต่ดูเหมือนนักวิจารณ์ส่วนใหญ่จะชอบเธอซะเหลือเกิน ซึ่งเมื่อเทียบกับเจ๊มะดันเน่า (Madonna) แล้ว แน่อน Elena กินขาดในเรื่องของความเป็น classical แต่แหลมปรี๊ดของเจ๊มะดันเน่าของเราดันมีเสน่ห์กว่า ติดหูกว่ายังไงยังงั้นนั้น (แต่ก็นะความเป็น pop celebrity ก็ทำให้คุณโดนด่าได้เสมอ) ส่วน Matt Rawle ที่รับบทเป็น เช นั้นเรียกได้ว่าโดดเด่นในเรื่องของการแสดง ทว่าเสียงร้องของเขาอยู่ในระดับไม่ต่างกับ Antonio Banderas มากนัก แม้ว่า Antonio จะอัดมาแล้วหลายเทคก็ตาม!
เรียกได้ว่า หากคุณไม่ใช่แฟนตัวจริงของ Evita แล้วล่ะก็ ดูละครก็ไม่ต่างอะไรจากการดูหนังฉบับปี '96 มากนัก หากไม่ได้บัตรลด (ซึ่งในกรณีนี้ข้าพเจ้าได้มาจาก Ebay - ขอบคุณไหมที่ช่วยบิด last second) ก็อาจจะไม่ค่อยคุ้มนักกับค่าตั๋วราคา 55 ปอนด์ ซึ่งแพงหูฉี่
เป็นละครที่สั้นแค่ไม่ถึงสองชั่วโมง และข้อดีของมันก็คือเป็นละครที่ช่วยพิสูจน์ได้ว่า ความเตี้ยไม่ได้เป็นอุปสรรคต่อการเป็นนางเอก เพราะ Elena Roger มีความสูงเพียงแค่ 153cm เท่านั้น!!~
ว้าว อย่างงี้เราก็เป็นนางเอกกะเค้าได้แล้วสิ..........

October 07 Sondhi's Talk at SOASToday, there was a conference at SOAS - The School of Oriental and African Studies: University of London - one of the most highly regarded institutions in the UK. The title was 'Thailand Under CEO Thaksin' - but no, not many people were interested in the title. The reason why the conference was over-booked several weeks before the event date and additional seats have been provided even though the rest of the audience had to sit in other rooms listening to live broadcast from the main conference hall was the presence of one of the speakers: Sondhi Limthongkul.
Oh well, this doesn't necessarily mean that there are many Sondhi supporters here in the UK, but everyone was really interested in what he was gonna say - including the pro-Thaksin's and the anti-coup's (oh, and for those who don't know - these two groups do intersect but are not the same!). I was one of them.
The other speaker was Kraisak Chunhawan, who started the talk first. As you could easily predict: both speakers seemed to have agreed on the same conclusion that Thaksin's guilt was serious enough for the military coup to takeover. Kraisak talked about the violation of human rights in the south, while Sondhi emphasised on his arrogance against the King, the corruption and his popularist policies that he claimed to have fooled working-class people in the rural area. I don't need to talk about those stuffs anymore - you heard them millions of times from the Thailand Weekly Talk hosted by Sondhi himself. It was just a repetition in what he has said, though this time in English and a more peaceful manner.
Interesting enough, questions on the Monarchy involvement in politics have also been raised by the audience. The answers from Kraisak and Sondhi were what you have expected: the King's involvement was for the better of the country. They raised examples from 14 October and the Black May as well as a number of Royal Projects. However, one of Sondhi's remarkable statements was: "Am I a royalist? Yes and no."
However, the more remarkable moment was when a letter written by one of the audience who wanted to "remain anonymous" was read by one of the SOAS staff. The content of which focused on freedom to criticise the Monarchy in Thailand which is totally prohibited. The letter said that questions on the Monarchy including its involvement in bloodshedding politics and the success or failure of the royal projects have been raised in the mind of many people, however, they cannot be answered or "let alone, asked". (S)he also asked if SOAS could hold a conference on such issue, which cannot be discussed publicly in Thailand, here in the UK.

I went there with Mai and met a few LSE, UCL and SOAS students :) My name was included in the 'audio room' list but somehow we managed to squeeze into the front of the main conference hall because Mai wanted to ask a question (but he wasn't picked by the MC though, shame!). Anyway, that's how I got Sondhi's close-up photos as well as the atmosphere in the audio room!!
